Conservationist of the Year: Peter Jenkins

We’re incredibly proud to announce that ASGA Chairman Peter Jenkins has been named the 2024 Simms x Fly Fisherman Conservationist of the Year.

“Jenks,” as many of you know him, brings a level of unmatched energy and creates a welcoming atmosphere that inspires countless individuals to get involved in conservation. Our Association would not accomplish a fraction of what we do without Peter’s unwavering dedication and passion for our marine fisheries.

“After bearing witness to two peak fishing eras followed by two dramatic crashes, Jenkins had seen enough. He got involved as the chairman of the American Saltwater Guides Association. ASGA’s mission is to promote better business through conservation, and the organization conducts scientific research to support their position. That research is used in state and national fisheries meetings and gives all stakeholders a voice. Certainly, anglers want to harvest fish. But more than that meal, ASGA members are interested in healthy fish stocks that will provide excellent fishing for future generations. And Jenkins’ team approach is winning.”

Please keep an eye out for the latest issue of the Fly Fisherman Magazine to read the full feature documenting Peter’s journey as a business owner, angler and conservationist.

Join us in congratulating Peter on well-deserved industry recognition. This announcement comes just days after Peter was approved by the Board for a seat on the Striped Bass Advisory Panel.
